I believe
that the show of a play is the Director’s Note itself;
but since my group insists that I should write a
director’s note, I try doing so. Operation Cloudbursts
is the fifth play that I have written, the other four
being – DAYASHANKAR KI DIARY, SAKUBAI, SUMAN AUR SANA,
& JI, JAISI AAPKI MARZI. These plays are the outpour of
my years of experience & sensitivity that I have
inherited from my parents. I give the entire credit of
my sensibility & sensitivity to them. My father comrade
Sayyed Sajjad Zaheer and my mother Razia Sajjad Zaheer,
both were great writers and patriots. I bow my head to
them.
The play ‘Operation Cloudbursts’ tries to understand
the reasons that lead to terrorism. It also explores
the valour and silent dilemmas, struggles, questions
that surround our army men.
Today in India the first thing that comes to our minds
when we speak out about terrorism is Kashmir. But this
is not the only state in our country facing a volatile
situation. We are almost ignorant about the miseries
that people from other states are going through.
However just recently, there has been an eye on the
North – Eastern states like Assam and the terrorism
there.
To counter the limitless terrorism, thousands of army
men have to lay down their lives. This play is our
tribute to all those Army men of our country who
relentlessly work to make our lives safe and secure.
It also expresses the strong feeling of hurt in the
hearts of the common people who are struggling to
establish an identity in their own country. Here in the
play we are looking particularly into the sentiment of
the people of the north eastern region of our country.
These issues, conflicts and different points of view
are all woven in the script so that the audience feels
for and relates to both, the brave army men and the
suppressed, yet determined voices of the common people
of the terrorised states.
Playing the role of a responsible theatre worker,
Ekjute has always chosen to bring socially important
issues like these to the forefront. This is “EKJUTE’S”
yet another presentation as a service to its
ever-supportive audience. A very big thank you to my
group without whose support I would not be what I am
today.
My note will be incomplete without expressing the
gratitude for my husband Shri Raj Babbar who gave me a
new insight especially to understand the point of view
of the Army.
Last but not the least I really appreciate my respected
audience who has always been encouraging us. Because of
you, we have survived and not succumbed to mediocre
work. I am fortunate to have such a sa)dya… Seh- hridey
audience which has the sensibility to appreciate
productions like these.
AaPa kao ekjauT ka Sat-Sat Pa`Naama… AAP KO EKJUTE KA
SHAT SHAT PRANAAM.
